Have you ever been through a track workout at City College? Masters session at Los Banos? Focused bike workout with a peloton about town? Did you or your trainer implement interval work into your training?
Interval training is alternating high intensity workouts with low intensity recovery periods. It allows one to train harder for longer without burning out, enabling one to sustain high levels of intensity for long periods of time come race day.
Take this approach with your work day.
Break your day up into intervals. Rather than working from 8am until lunch attempting to get as much done as possible, try working in forty-five minute power intervals, taking five minute rests in between. Get up, walk around, stretch, meditate and/or drink some water, then return ready to focus and power forward.
Take inventory of your productivity and focus. Find the interval time that works for you.
When the big work day comes and your attention and focus is required all day you’ll be ready and prepared. In the meantime experience, more productive, enjoyable days.
Be intentional.
Live and be well,
