Bone Marrow and Courageous 36 Year Old!

January 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment

A quick update for you all, the first day of donation went awesome.  The most painful part of it all was watching my phone in slow motion plummet into a bowl of agua!  Seriously, a couple quick, uncomfortable pokes and we were off and donating.  One line in and one line out.  Leaving one of my hands pulsing a stress ball and the centrifuging machine to extract over 2 million of my white blood cells!  I had nothing to do but just chill on the posture-pedic mattress, over-load the nurses and doctors with random medical questions, catch up with my mom, and show the entire room how cool “Planet Earth” is.  6 hours later I was walking out of there feeling tired, but on the whole good.

The rest of the day I ate plenty, relaxed enough, got a really cool hike in, then met a good friend for dinner.

Day two was only a couple hours of donating, so it was a drop in the bucket in comparison.

My blood has now been delivered to the receiving patient.  He under went the most intense chemo therapy treatment to date in preparation for this all.  So please keep the good omens going out for our 36 yr old man of courage!

Thank you again for your care and support!  Should you wish to get plugged into the registry, please contact me.

Live and Be Well,

jeff
