Two months into 2008, and many of us are already experiencing road blocks to our goals. Sickness, market woes, job uncertainty, frigid weather in many parts of the country.
Stop.
Remember, there are 305 days left in the year.
Whatever the roadblock, remember: You have time. You have many days of health, happiness and influential experiences ahead.
Understanding this allows you to combat one reality instilled in our DNA. When we get off course, we try to come back at our activities with intense fervor.
Attempting to make up for lost time.
I ask you to pull back on the throttle just a touch. Starting too fast often leads to relapses in sickness, burn out, and letdowns. Understand that building a habit takes time. We all know that 21 days has been found to be the length of time to build in a habit.
Recommit to your goal in a way that is sustainable for at least 21 days. Should you make it through this period, the rest is just tweaking the course you’re traveling.
Make it happen. Phase II is a challenge. Not insurmountable. Have some fun with it.
Live and Be Well,
Jeff Bochsler
