Whatever you have decided for your Halloween costume endeavor, remember not to eat unwrapped candy.
Be safe. Have some fun. And connect with those in witty costumes.
Note: The Presidential Election happens this next Tuesday. If you believe in Democracy, it is your duty to vote. If you don’t believe in Democracy, you should express this in your vote.
On the election note, I have heard many great, unique ideas on how the elections should be set up. Starting with allowing you to vote only once a life-time (age 45) to others believing your shouldn’t be able to vote for local politicians unless you own a home. What are your thoughts on the election process? What do you believe should be changed?

Buzzword: Shark Repellent
“Slang term for any one of a number of measures taken by a company to fend off an unwanted or hostile takeover attempt. In many cases, a company will make special amendments to its charter or bylaws that become active only when a takeover attempt is announced or presented to shareholders with the goal of making the takeover less attractive or profitable to the acquisitive firm.
Also known as a “porcupine provision”.
Most companies want to decide their own fates in the marketplace, so when the sharks attack, shark repellent can send the predator off to look for a less feisty target.
While the concept is a noble one, many shark repellent measures are not in the best interests of shareholders, as the actions may damage the company’s financial position and interfere with management’s ability to focus on critical business objectives. Some examples of shark repellents are poison pills, scorched earth policies, golden parachutes and safe harbor strategies.” -Investopedia
Four Points to Ponder:
1. Huge stock advancements on the week ending horrendous month on a high note. The Dow is up 1000pts on the week. S&P 500 up 110pts. Nasdaq up 150pts.
2. 4 days from Election Day! Be sure to vote!
3. The NBA has begun and the Lakers are dominating. Us Seattle fans are already missing Shawn Kemp, Kendal Gill and Gary Payton…oh, and Steve Scheffler.
4. Phillies take the World Series leaving Rays wondering how they failed to make plays.
Positives:
* Investors have been finding value in the discounted stocks and have started expressing such beliefs.
* Next week consumer sentiment should be up, no matter who is elected. Breath of fresh air ahead. Bush is in his last stage. Might he be soon writing a book about his great feats? : )
Negatives:
* This week is all positives. No complaining.
