Last MSR I wrote on the topic of The Quarterlife Crisis.  The responses were phenomenal.  I heard from people in their early twenties to their mid-eighties.  I thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to reply back and look forward to sharing in the coming weeks, with your permission of course, some of these learnings and perspectives.

Unique Apple Pie To further divulge into this intriguing topic, it seems appropriate to focus in on the very American desire and emotional need to be different and unique.

“I don’t really have much to confess, my life isn’t terrible, just not extraordinary.  I guess I am a product of my generation: being brought up to think I can save the world.  And I’m not doing that.” – Annonymous writer in response to the article “Welcome to Your Quarterlife Crisis.”

Rocket Scientists’ Patriotism. 6/10/09

June 10th, 2009 · No Comments

The summer months are a time of transition.  Transition out of school and into days of freedom for teachers and students.  For parents, it marks a period of creativity and management of their children, no longer willing homework completion, but now directing boredom fighting activities.   For business owners, employees begin to take extended vacations and leave the office early to get out and play in the sun, requiring managers to get creative with who to place where to pick up the slack.  And for others, it’s the perfect time to relocate and/or begin house hunting.

Extra!  Extra!  Read all about it!  30 Year Fixed Interest Rates Plummet into the 4%s!

This is one of those “tell your friends” moments in my business.  The structure of our current economy is shaky.  Corporations are being called to either shut their doors on thousands, cut some, or make all sacrifice a little / a lot.  The masses are either receiving a pay cut for 2009, not receiving a year end bonus, getting a smaller raise than expected, or even getting laid off.  Times are getting tough.

Barack Obama – Your New President 11/6/08

November 9th, 2008 · No Comments

Whether you agree with the election, believe wholeheartedly in Barack, and even trust him or not, this is a powerful American decision.  Yes, the fact of a black man being elected as the president of the United States is historical.  Just as historical in my mind is the way the world quickly responded to our decision.  During a time of economic strife and world hatred toward the bulling and listening inept United States, people around the globe were elated.   Commentary showed renewed hope in the world leader and its direction.  It gave millions, if not billions, hope of a strong, prosperous future.

Santa Barbara, CA – Written by Jeff Bochsler. Follow me on Twitter.

Buzzword of the Week: Skirt Length Theory

“The idea that skirt lengths are a predictor of the stock market direction.  According to the theory, if skirts are short, it means the markets are going up.  And if skirt are long, it means the markets are heading down.

Skirts

The idea behind this theory is that shorter skirts tend to appear in times when general consumer confidence and excitement is high, meaning the markets are bullish.  In contrast, the theory says long skirts are worn more in times of fear and general gloom, indicating that things are bearish.
